A New Name Needed a Clear Educational Vision

In 2020, CUESA was moving through a rebrand to become Foodwise. To develop a stronger focus on accessibility and equity, the team needed a firmly unified vision to carry forward their programs. The organization's program activities are developed to provide young people  education about farms, labor, and food.

Building Frameworks to Advance Food Education

Over seven weeks in summer 2020, the Nest, founder of Woven Studios, consulted with Executive Director Christine to translate the organization's new identity into a practical educational direction. The Nest:

  • Defined a cohesive Educational Vision Outline grounded in the mission

  • Developed the job description and work plan for a new Education Director/Manager role

  • Facilitated team decision-making using the DARCI grid and Fist-to-Five consensus

  • Prioritized engagement strategies for youth, market shoppers, and low-income communities

Through our facilitated process, Foodwise reviewed, revised, or consolidated its core programs, including Foodwise Teens, Foodwise Kids, Foodwise Families, market education and demos, public talks, farm tours, and the summer fellowship. The organization moved forward with an educational vision and a defined role to carry it forward.
