About the event
The 2022 Midterm Elections are right around the corner!
If you’re like us, you care deeply about your community, recognize all the ways that local and national politics aren’t reflecting your values, and want to engage with voting and the policy process in a meaningful way. But somehow every time an election rolls around, it’s the day before ballots are due, and here we are frantically texting our friends asking who they’re voting for and googling things like, “what the f*** is a comptroller!?” and “LA progressive voter guide”.
The clicks-driven news and social media cycle is a constant barrage reminding us how dire the stakes are when it comes to politics and voting. But only hearing about candidates or issues when there’s a scandal or a crisis often leaves us feeling exhausted, ineffective, and disengaged. From our experiences in other moments of crisis and upheaval, we know that connecting with our values and our communities helps us feel grounded and move effectively from a place of power. That’s why we are hosting the LA Ballot Breakdown!
We’re not political experts, but you don’t have to be an expert to be an informed voter! We think what you may need is some dedicated time to consider what’s on the ballot and how it intersects with what’s important to you. We’re not telling you what to think or how to vote. Instead we are helping you carve out some time and offering you a few tools to figure out what you think for yourself!
Let’s honor the legacies of our ancestors who fought for our right to vote, and start building the world we wish to see for future generations. Come join us! Let’s learn, play, connect, and get ready to vote!
This is an opportunity to:
- Tap into your core values
- Learn together about local political structures, issues, and candidates
- Draw connections between your values and your votes
- Identify the races and issues areas you want to prioritize for the 2022 Midterm elections
- Enjoy good snacks + drinks and good people
- Feel empowered, informed, and connected
Entry is free, but we ask that you bring a friend! We all benefit from the knowledge of the collective!
